Shopping in London
Better than New York, Milan or Paris, London is the best shopping city in the world. Located among some of the best shopping districts in the city, the Collingham Apartments are located close to three of London’s most famous shopping streets.
Shopping in High Street Kensington
High Street Kensington is a long, wide thoroughfare where you will find almost everything you could wish for including the usual host of mobile phone shops and fashion chains including Zara, Urban Outfitters, H&M, Gap, Next, Jigsaw and Uniqlo. Shoe shops are plentiful and you will also find a great choice of independent shops selling everything from flowers to antiques to books to outdoor adventure to almost everything you could wish for. Of course there’s a great choice of restaurants and cafés if you need to stop for lunch or a quick coffee and a croissant before continuing on your shopping adventure!

Shopping in King’s Road
King’s Road has been famous since the 1960s as a hip, trendy shopping street in Chelsea and while it’s similar in style to High Street Kensington, you’ll find that it’s geared more towards the style-savvy shopper. It has more boutique fashion stores as well as the classics – Oasis, French Connection and Calvin Klein – and more shoes than you could possibly want from Dune, Kurt Geiger, Office, Jones Bootmaker and Blue Velvet amongst many others! Heals and Habitat are perennial furniture favourites, as is the most British of department stores, Peter Jones – not to be confused with the Dragon of the same name! There are lots of quaint pubs, coffee shops and restaurants along King’s Road so you can shop, eat, drink and watch the world of west London go by.

Shopping in Sloane Street
Sloane Street is a very high end shopping street full of world-renowned designer stores, the world’s leading fashion brands from men’s and women’s wear, luggage, jewellery and shoes. You’ll also find some of London’s most high-profile restaurants including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Bar Boulud, Le Chinois and Baku Restaurant and Bar. The list of shops reads like a ‘who’s who’ of designer names – Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Armani, Gucci, Graff Diamonds, Louis Vuitton and La Perla – you are spoiled for choice! You are also on the doorstep of two of the world’s most famous department stores – Harrods and Harvey Nichols, so remember to take your wallet!

Shopping In and Near Kensington
Aside from these three world-class shopping streets, there are a number of ‘hidden gems’ that are definitely worth exploring!
Our first recommendation is the Chelsea Farmer’s Market. Despite what you might think, this isn’t a series of stalls where local farmers sell their meat, vegetables and cider! It’s in Sydney Street (just off Kings Road) and it’s a super-stylish enclave of boutique shops, organic supermarkets and cafés with a steer towards healthy eating, herbal remedies and complementary medicines and natural ingredients.
Carrying on a theme, Motcomb Street, as well as being one of the most expensive residential addresses in the entire country, is also a haven for the discerning shopper. It has hidden courtyards and cobbled streets full of high-end designer shops and restaurants and is a great place for celebrity spotting!
The iconic Portobello Road is also nearby on this side of West London, a great place to go for a stroll amongst the bric-a-brac antiques, food stalls, street performers and bustling crowds in the weekend.
If it’s ‘everything-under-one-roof’ you’re looking for, take a trip to Westfield White City. It’s the largest in-town shopping and leisure destination in Europe. It has around 270 shops, including department stores and luxury brands; over 50 restaurants, cafés, bars and pop-ups; a 14-screen cinema and gym; 4,500 parking spaces and it’s served by a brand-new bus station as well as White City, Wood Lane and Shepherds Bush tube stations.
Shopping in London is a rich and varied experience and you will find shops, restaurants, bars and boutiques as well as fun, quirky places to explore books, antiques, arts and crafts and food from almost every country in the world!
