A Socially-Distanced Christmas In London
Christmas in London is always a magical time and 2020 is no different but of course it comes with some important reminders. We know you’ve heard it a hundred times before but we do urge you follow the latest coronavirus regulations and guidance when you’re out and about in London this Christmas and don’t forget to stay safe and act responsibly.

London’s Christmas Lights
In amongst the lockdowns, the restrictions on what we can do and where we can go, the general feeling of ‘will this ever end’ and the dark winter nights, there is light at the end of the tunnel in the form of London’s Christmas lights.
This year, the famous lights are dedicated to the NHS and essential workers, all of whom have worked tirelessly and selflessly over the past 10 months or so. They’re all on now (even though there was no celebrity switch-on ceremony) and you can find a list of the best Christmas lights in London here, including some which are a metaphorical stone’s throw from the Collingham Apartments.
Virtual Christmas
At the time of writing, London will be subject to Tier 2 after the national lockdown on December 2nd with theatres able to open with very limited capacity, however we’re unsure as to how many of London’s entertainment venues will be open and available to accept visitors.
Of course, it’s always useful to stay abreast of the latest government guidelines but that absolutely won’t stop you from enjoying London’s incredible culture from the warmth and comfort of your apartment at the Collingham – just ensure you’ve had all your wonderful Christmas food delivered so you can relax and enjoy London from your home from home.
Many of London’s arts venues are streaming live events and performances and you can also watch live webcams from amazing places such as the National Gallery, the Houses of Parliament, the Natural History Museum and you can even (virtually) ride London Underground’s Mail Rail.
You can find tours of the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey as well as lots of virtual exhibitions and if you think you know your Bach from your Beethoven or your Schubert from your Stravinsky, the London Symphony Orchestra have a very highbrow quiz every Tuesday.
